Way to restore schema?
0
PEOPLE
Our company recently installed an app that extended the AD schema. Then they decided not to buy the app. Sigh. Now I am told we MUST remove the schema extensions. Yes, I know they are permanent. Is there a way to rely on recent backups (this was a couple of days ago, so not too far past) to restore... what, the entire forest?

You cannot remove these schema extensions completly without restoring the forest which might be a bit overhead for the situation. Steps are outlined here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786327%28WS.10%29.aspx
However You can defunct these schema extensions:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc961741.aspx
Which I think will saisfy the requirement.

Hindsight is 20/20- As with other changes, Schema changes will replicate to all DCs unless you do what Joe Richards suggests, according to him a leading practice now is to put the schema master temporarily in a lag site and make it replicate only after 6 days. This contradicts with the old practice of disconnecting the schema master, making your changes and and bringing it back online if you are content.
I would choose to defunct the schema extensions, over going thru the pain of forest restoration.
